Jilted: A Love Hurts Novel by Sawyer Bennett – Review Blitz – Laurie’s Review

Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.

“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke

Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.

Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.

Sawyer Bennett’s Jilted is a second chance romance, reuniting long-ago lovers Eden Goodnight and Cooper Mayfield, for the first time in 12 years. It is a funny, emotional and seriously hot AF story that will pull you in from the first page and not let you put it down until you have turned its last wonderful page.

Please indulge me while I revel in the glory that is Jilted. From get-go it was love-love-love. A steel-strong heroine who needs a moment or a thousand after a very public break up and goes back to her hometown for some personal restoration. The boy she left behind is now all man and harboring some pretty powerful emotions, none of which shout “welcome home”. Time and absence have not dulled their chemistry, in fact it is nothing short of electric. Lucky for us, the reader, we are eating our metaphorical popcorn as it all plays out.

Eden Goodnight is a powerhouse, plain and simple. She has achieved the pinnacle of success in her career(s) with a laser focus and plain, old hard work. Through her eyes we see her life for what it has become – a business proposition. The return to Newberry drives that home in numerous ways that simply hurt your heart. Through this though, it is impossible not to fall in love with Eden Goodnight, behind the glamorous beauty is a badass woman with an amazing heart, who is done suffering all the fools.

Fair warning – Cooper Mayfield will melt your damn panties. Melt them clear off. There were a million reasons why I adored him, chief among them that he was willing to rectify a mistake as soon as he could. Plus, his wasn’t an ego that needed to cast a shadow because a woman might be incredibly successful — he lets her shine. Oh and Mr. Mayfield has a deliciously dirty mouth that he is not at all afraid to use. Yum.

But Eden and Coop together are complete freaking magic. While twelve years is a lifetime to be apart, it is achingly clear that these two didn’t still carry a torch for each other, but a full-on bonfire. I loved every single moment with them — big and small.

When it didn’t have me reaching for a cold beverage or a fan, Jilted had me snaughing quite a bit (note – be careful with the aforementioned cold beverage while reading this book because it cause a spit-take or twenty) but also swooning. It is a fabulous book for the beach or pool, because you certainly need to cool off — a lot! Enjoy!
