UP TO YOU by Daisy Prescott
(A Love with Altitude Novel, #4)
I’m the last single woman among my friends. Don’t feel sorry for me. I’m fine with flying solo, especially with ski season right around the corner. You won’t hear me complaining. Until my mother decides I need a date for my cousin’s wedding … and chooses the worst man in the world for me.
Landon Roberts is the human equivalent of a parka with every ski pass he’s ever purchased hanging off of his zipper. Apparently my mother is the last person in Colorado to know about Landon’s reputation.
To make things worse, his super hot brother Aiden’s back in town. Still gorgeous and still not remotely interested in me.
I can survive this wedding disaster as long as I pretend my date is someone else.
As one of the stars of Aspen’s rugby club, I don’t need help meeting women. Tell that to my mother. She’s picked out my date for the biggest wedding of the year.
Mae London is the local girl who broke every heart in the valley before she left for California. Now she’s back and hotter than ever. Too bad she hates me.
Enlisting the help of my brother, I’m going to become the ideal man, and charm Mae right out of her bad opinion of me.
This wedding date will be perfect as long as I pretend to be someone else.

Once again, Daisy Prescott has made me swooooooooooooooon. As always, I have zero impulse control when it comes to Daisy’s books and Up to You was no different – I started to read it almost immediately and was completely enthralled. The ONLY reason I did put it down was for a hockey game. In my defense, it was the Stanley Cup finals and my team was on the verge of winning it for the first time in their 44-year history. I digress. Up to You is an even more modern take on the story of Cyrano with some emojis. But even more, it is a delightfully clever romance with characters that just totally stole my heart.
I loved so many things about this book. Starting with the fact just how perfectly Daisy captures the tone of her characters. They are of a certain generation who are painted with some pretty broad and at time negative strokes. But this cast, who might have the means to enjoy their lives to its fullest (and they do), we get to see them not only working hard, but also make significant contributions to their community.
But it’s Mae and Aiden’s story and for me, they LIT IT UP. They had chemistry for days and their every moment together felt like this divine romance – fabulous banter, flirting and that uncontrollable urge to nudge them even closer to each other. It felt like a kind of magic and the payoff is worth every second of that want.
Daisy’s heroes are some of my favorite characters and with Aiden Roberts she has created the book boyfriend of your dreams. He is truly a good guy and while that goodness is tested by a sibling rivalry that honestly is no contest, but it shows that Aiden has the collective restraint of all the angels and saints. But even more, this man a romantic, who sees Mae for the amazing woman that she is and does not hesitate to let her know. Oh, and our (or my) Mr. Roberts is a kisser. A fabulous kisser. GAH!!!
Mae is amazing. I could completely relate to her on so many levels — I loved her humor and ability to overthink or over speak. Also, while she is her own woman, it doesn’t matter how much of an adult Mae might think she is, she is not impervious to the power of the matriarchy. Pretty much, she is all of us.
But this review can’t be complete without addressing the a-hole in the room. Landon’s ick factor might just have you reaching through your device to punch him square in his brain (not the one his shoulders because it does a crap job of managing any of his impulses). Here we get to step inside his head (bring your hazmat suit) and suffice it to say, yeah, no. He is a lout through and through. Daisy does a great job of not only letting us seeing that he is a to-the-marrow-narcissistic boor, but that the people who love him will only go so far in accepting it. As the kids say, “Bye boi.”
While Up to You is considered a standalone, I implore you to read the other books in the Love with Altitude series to get the full effect of these characters. Daisy has done a brilliant job of ensuring each story is unique and at the same time weaving them together to allow the reader to appreciate not only the love stories, but also the friendship between the Heroines. Funny, smart, honest and supportive individuals, these are women we aspire to be and have in our lives.
Up to You is still calling to me…. I love getting lost in Daisy Prescott’s books and Up to You was no different, every element of this story just made me happy. It’s exactly what I needed. Happy reading!!
